Weddings are all about bringing the perfect pair together …. You as a couple and your shoes!
The footwear you choose on your wedding day is far more important than you think. Not only will they be walking you down the aisle, they will be strutting their stuff on the dancefloor for your first dance. So let’s step forward and talk shoes, we’ll discuss what styles to go for on your wedding day plus useful tips…
Brides are choosing shoes that reflect their styles and themes of the wedding from matching colours or patterns. There are so many different types and styles of shoes to choose from, they will also need to be adapted and be a wise fit to your wedding venue style:
If your chosen wedding venue is predominately outside and has a rustic barn feel, then consider wearing boots under your dress, they can be a lifesaver with unwanted mud and changes to weather can make the perfect photos.
Some more historical venues have a strict no-heels policy to protect the flooring of the building, so consider wearing flats or heel protectors.
A lot of my brides opt for two pairs of wedding shoes, one for the more informal part of the day then a pair of flats so that they can dance all night long without worrying about sore feet.
Top tips
Unlike your dress, your shoes can be worn again after your wedding so choose a pair that you would love to wear over and over.
Remember to take your shoes with you to your dress fitting so that the dress can be altered to the right length.
Treat yourself to a pedicure before your wedding day, you’ll want to be showing off your feet on your honeymoon afterwards
Wear your shoes around the house to break them in, you can give your partner a little taster of what a part of your outfit for the day is going to look like.
If you can’t find the correct colour of shoes you want to match your theme, consider having your shoes dyed. Rainbow Club offers this service at a very reasonable price and can be helpful for co-ordinating the shades for bridemaid’s too.
Practice dancing in your shoes, it’s a perfect way to wear them in and to gain more confidence for the dance floor.
